With the release of the iPhone 5 reported to be this October, Apple Inc. is reducing stock and therefore the availability of the iPhone 3GS model. The news on the street is that Apple is gearing up for the two next-generation iPhones to be released later this year. One of them being a redesigned iPhone 4 and possible called the iPhone 4S and this is most likely to be a cheaper pre paid model compared to the expected iphone 5.
Here is some great advice if you drop your mobile phone or iphone in some water or it suffers any type of liquid ingression.
Step 1. Remove it from the water as soon as practically possible
Step 2. The battery must be removed straight away ** VERY IMPORTANT**
Step 3. DO NOT PUT THE BATTERY OR THE CHARGER IN THE PHONE AGAIN! The water and an electrical current connected to the device is what is normally fatal in any electronics, and the least time it has liquid in it with a battery or charger current going through it, the less the chance that fatal damage will happen to your phone or other equipment.
Step 4. Put the device into a paper or plastic bag half filled with rice (but do not seal it). Try to shake as much of the water as possible off first but if you put rice and water together, you get a glue type reaction so you want to prevent this as it can damage your device even further. The rice helps to draw out the moisture from the electronic equipment before some form of technical help is available. It is not recommended that this is the only thing (in rice) you do before re-connecting the battery or charger to the device. (An internal inspection should be performed by an experienced electronics technician, and any corrosion and oxidization can be cleaned from the electronic motherboard before connecting the battery and charger).
Step 5. PLEASE CALL Budget Mobile Phone Repair Adelaide as soon as you can so your device can be cleaned & dried without more time passing by!
If you follow these steps there is a higher chance that your precious mobile phone or electronic device can be saved! Some models the battery cant be removed such as iphones so these should be sent in for inspection, battery disconnection, clean and dry as soon as you can.
In the global market share of mobile phone operating systems, the data provided by researcher Canalys stated that Google Android shared 32.9% of users worldwide, Symbian (Nokia etc) 30.6%, Apple 16%, RIM 14.4%, Windows mobile 3.1% and other 3%. This data was provided for the period of Q4 2010, and their website shows data and analysis compared to Q4 2009.
We have some of our own data for comparison for mobile phone market share 2011, between the period of May 30 2011 and June 29 2011. For the region of Adelaide, South Australia, we have monitored our mobile devices web traffic over this period to find that 85.33% of site visits were from Apple (iphone, ipod and ipad) devices, 10.33% of site visits were from Google Android devices, 3% Symbian (Nokia etc) devices, 1.34% other.
So in the Adelaide South Australia region, it can be see that the market share from our own research suggests Apple rules! The Apple data can also be broken up. Of that 85.33% market share, 82.42% were iPhone devices including 3G, 3GS and 4G. 12.89% were from iPad devices including the 1st generation and iPad2. 4.69% were from iPod devices including 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touch.
This is not a conclusive data, but it is the raw data taken from our mobile phone website visits. It does not take into account that iphone users are more likely to use their device to look up something on the web compared to Blackberry. It may just be that iphone users find it easier to do than those who use the other devices, so it does not clearly indicate “what device is out there and whats not” but it does clearly show that for people on the move, in Adelaide, people are using more Apple devices than anything else.

How tough is the iphone 4G in comparison to the predecessor 3GS model? Well the manufacturer, Apple, state that the glass is 35% stronger than plastic, and is made from a material they call gorilla glass. It is meant to be a space age product apparently used in space shuttle technology.
Since the 4G iphone has a glass back as well as the front touch screen digitizer, it is more likely that a 4G iphone will suffer more damage though a fall or drop than the 3GS. The 3GS iphone had a full plastic rear housing so this does not suffer as much damage as a glass battery cover on the iphone 4G. So much for being tougher than plastic!
The glass on both model iphones breaks as easily as one another. The disadvantage with the iphone 4G is that if you crack the top touch screen glass digitizer, the LCD module is glued to the touch screen, thus requiring a combo module for repairs as they are not seperatable. The original iphone 2G was similar with the 3G and 3GS models being seperatable it was a step in the right direction regarding repairability but most likely is a step back with the 4G. There are obvious reasons for this though as the 4G iphone has a HD screen and is very fragile.
The price of the 4G combo LCD module has been steadily decreasing, and with the expected release of the iphone 5G in the distant future, we predict that by the end of 2011 we will possibly be seeing iphone 4G repairs to the LCD and touch screen in line with the cost of the 3G/3GS models.
